The crimping machine is a dedicated fiber orientation unit installed before the curing oven. By reorienting the fibers, it significantly improves the mechanical properties of the final rock wool product. Vertical fiber orientation enhances compressive strength and delamination resistance, while the tensile strength in the thickness direction can be increased by several times, making it especially suitable for exterior insulation boards.
According to specific production requirements, two crimping solutions are available: conventional crimping with rollers and crimping with belts combined with pre-crimping.
The roller crimping system consists of a double-roller conveyor, with a fixed lower section and an adjustable upper section to control product thickness and fiber orientation. The belt crimping system uses multiple belt zones working in pairs to reorient fibers within a controlled area, allowing different product characteristics to be achieved based on application needs.
