The melting furnace is a key unit in the rock wool production line, responsible for melting mixed raw materials into molten rock for fiber formation. According to different production requirements and energy sources, two types of melting furnaces are commonly used: cupola furnace and electric melter.
The cupola furnace uses coke combustion with hot air to melt the raw material mixture and convert it into molten rock, which is then fiberized into rock wool. The furnace body is made of special high-temperature-resistant steel with water-cooled structure, ensuring safe and stable operation. It offers advantages such as fast start-up and shutdown, low operating cost, easy maintenance, recycling of production waste in briquette form, and high operational flexibility.
The electric melter uses electrical energy generated by electrodes immersed in the melt to achieve raw material melting. This type of furnace eliminates the use of coke, allows direct recycling of various production wastes, and features lower specific energy consumption with higher melting efficiency, making it an environmentally friendly solution for modern rock wool production lines.
